The problem of oily sheen and wide pores is not familiar to owners of dry skin. But they are familiar with peeling, redness, tightness, itching. And such skin ages earlier – wrinkles form on it faster. Can I change my skin type? Impossible. It is determined by genetics. But with the right care you can improve the condition of your skin – so that it looks healthy and well-groomed.
1. Cleansing without water
Few people can boast of good quality tap water. For most, it is at least tough. If washing with water brings discomfort – itching and tightness – use products that do not require contact with it. For example, micellar water or milk.
2. Free from alcohol and sulfates
There are many ingredients that dry skin is clearly contraindicated, but the main pests are alcohol and sulfates. Facial cleansing gels, cleansing foams, toners and lotions should absolutely not contain these ingredients.
3. Soft toning
The final step in cleansing the skin, as you know, is to apply a toner that restores acid-base balance and moisturizes. Dry skin toners are formulated with ingredients that soothe, soften, nourish and protect the skin. Toners for oily or combination skin work differently. So, choose a tool, focusing on yourself, and not reviews, tips or promotions.
4. New word – hydrolat
Like tonics, hydrolates (flower waters) are used to balance the pH and moisturize. What distinguishes hydrolat from tonic? 100% natural composition and antiseptic properties, since flower water is a residual product in the production of essential oils. And also hydrolat can be used, in addition to toning, to prepare masks.
5. Day and night
The division of creams into day and night is rather arbitrary. And the owners of oily skin can definitely safely use one cream around the clock. For dry skin, it makes sense to buy both. Night cream contains a large amount of oils, that is, it nourishes better, but dry skin usually does not have enough nutrition.
6. Fruit acids
Exfoliating should be done by everyone, including those with dry skin. This procedure helps the skin to renew itself and simply improves its appearance. There is one thing – remove aggressive products like scrubs from the cosmetic shelf. And put peels with fruit acids on it. Peels work by dissolving cells, not mechanically scraping them off.
7. Serum care
Serums are associated with anti-aging care by many, but they are not. There are serums for a wide variety of problems, including dryness. The peculiarity of the serum is in its chemical formula, which provides a quick and deep penetrating action. Attention: the serum is applied under the cream, not instead of the cream.
8. Hyaluronic acid
Cosmetics with hyaluronic acid are a must-have for those with dry skin. Hyaluronic acid works as follows – its molecules attract water molecules and hold them, thus increasing the level of moisture in the dermis.
9. There is never too much oil
Dry skin suffers not only from water deficiency, but also from fat deficiency. Massage with oils, oil masks, oil make-up remover – there is never too much oil! Ideal for dry skin: Shea butter, avocado, apricot, wheat germ, coconut. Combined with essential oils (such as rose, sandalwood, or ylang-ylang) work better than expensive creams.
10. Air humidifier
The heating season in our climate lasts a long time, and all this time the skin suffers from low humidity levels. Get a humidifier and your skin will thank you. Please note that humidifiers are designed for a certain volume of the room, and they do not work when the vents are open.
