Beets are renowned for their detoxifying properties. This purple root vegetable harbors a real treasure, namely nutrients, among which betalains occupy a special place. They exhibit antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-lipidemic and antimicrobial activity. Betalaines prevent oxidative stress that contributes to some degenerative diseases, helps cells eliminate toxins and repair, and inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Betalain is quite heat sensitive, and when cooking beets, you can easily destroy these valuable nutrients if you overcook the root vegetable. That is why we use it raw in the recipe.
Beets also contain folate, a complex B vitamin that plays a key role in cell regeneration, as well as essential trace elements (manganese, magnesium, potassium, iron) that are responsible for cleansing the body.
Apple is a fantastic addition to this juice given its moisturizing properties as well as its high pectin content. Pectin binds to toxins and cholesterol and removes them from the body. It also stimulates the intestines, helps eliminate waste, cleanses the colon while nourishing good bacterial colonies.
