NOT all fruits are banned for diabetics. In fact, some berries have been shown to be beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes in the course of the study.
For example, blueberries help your body to efficiently process glucose, increasing its insulin sensitivity and regulating blood sugar levels, which in turn can help fight diabetes. A study by the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center noted that laboratory rats fed with powdered blueberries acquired increased insulin sensitivity even when consuming food high in fat.
Since most people with type 2 diabetes struggle with insulin resistance, increased insulin sensitivity can help cope with the disease. The study also found that lab rats who ate crushed blueberry powder had lower blood sugar levels than before eating blueberry powder, and the researchers noted that their genes had changed to allow the body to process glucose more efficiently than before. According to the Joslin Diabetes Center, if you have type 2 diabetes, you can lower your blood sugar by eating a lot of high fiber foods like blueberries.

Researchers have found substances in fruits, especially blueberries and strawberries, that have unique effects on preventing aging and improving brain health. Adding fruit to your diet can lower your risk of diabetes. Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins and other compounds that have anti-aging effects. Consuming apples lowers the risk of developing colorectal cancer. Eating citrus fruits reduces the risk of all types of digestive tract cancers. Numerous studies have shown that total fruit consumption provides us with the strongest protection against several types of cancer: cancers of the mouth and esophagus, lungs, prostate, colorectal cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
