What a relief that we can finally enjoy longer days and warmer winds. To celebrate this, we used the incredible spring greens sorrel for our recipe, along with lemon and a few other super foods. Sorrel is rich in many vitamins, minerals and other substances necessary for our body.
Among them, vitamins C, B1, K, carotene, essential oils, organic acids (tannic, oxalic, pyrogallic and others), as well as minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus) play a particularly important role. The range of applications for this herb is very wide. I use it in the treatment of vitamin deficiencies, scurvy, anemia. Vitamin C accelerates the absorption of iron, which contributes to an increase in hemoglobin levels. With gastritis with low acidity, sorrel stimulates the production of gastric juice, improves digestion. Sorrel juice in small doses can be used as a choleretic agent. Sorrel is a hemostatic and anti-inflammatory agent. It will help in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the bladder, activates the liver and intestines. Sorrel is recommended for infertility, tuberculosis, rheumatism, it will also help with headaches, colds, coughs, runny nose, as well as with cracks in the anus, hemorrhoids, enterocolitis, colitis, back pain.
Attention! Sorrel is contraindicated for gout, kidney problems, gastritis and ulcers!
Smoothie “Avocado and sorrel”. Recipe
2 cups sorrel
juice + zest 1/2 lemon
